Biden interview in Florida

Barack Obama's campaign killed all interviews with a Florida TV station after Sen. Joe Biden, the Democratic vice presidential nominee, faced tough and critical questions from a reporter at the Orlando station, the Orlando Sentinel reported .

During a satellite video Thursday, WFTV's Barbara West quoted Karl Marx and asked Biden how Obama's comment to "Joe the Plumber," about spreading the wealth wasn't being Marxist.

"Are you joking?," Biden asked.

West replied, "No."

Later in the interview West questioned Biden about his comments that if Obama wins the election next month, he would be tested early on as president and wanted to know if Biden was implying America was no longer the world's leading power.

"I don't know who's writing your questions," Biden asked her.

The Obama camp then killed a WFTV interview with Biden's wife Jill, according to an Orlando Sentinel blog.

"This cancellation is non-negotiable, and further opportunities for your station to interview with this campaign are unlikely, at best for the duration of the remaining days until the election," wrote Laura K. McGinnis, Central Florida communications director for the Obama campaign, according to the Sentinel.

I haven't been around that long. I'm not even 30 yet. But, I honestly have never seen any presidential candidate that I considered a threat to freedom of speech. I'm scared that Obama and his new majoritarian faction will quash all dissent.

Will the media under Obama be state run? If this sounds paranoid, then answer this question: If Obama did run the media how would he run it any differently than it has been run this election cycle? Look what's happened in Venezuela. Why couldn't the same thing happen here? Look at the evidence of Obama's anti-speech tendencies:

1. His campaign gave talking points to his supporters and encouraged them to jam the phone lines of a Chicago radio station that had the nerve to have on a guest who was suspicious of Obama's work on the Chicago Annenberg Challenge.

2. The Obama campaign pressured the Justice Department to launch a criminal investigation into the American Issues Project for an ad about Bill Ayers whose factual accuracy the campaign didn't bother to contest.

3.Law enforcement officials in St. Louis recently issued a warning of libel prosecutions against Obama opposition if they say anything "false" about Obama. As far as I know, libel laws in this country have never covered public officials.

4. The Civil Rights Section of the Justice Department has suggested criminal prosecution of those they anticipate engaging in voter intimidation on election day. How will they know who the intimidators will be? Don't you worry your pretty little head. They'll know them when they see them.

5. Recently Obama has made it clear that journalists asking challenging questions of the campaign will not receive interviews.

6. Then there's the case of Joe the Plumber. He dared question Obama's tax plan when Obama personally solicited discussion from Joe IN JOE'S OWN FRONT YARD! Obama's partisans and media handmaidens immediately dug up dirt on Joe.

Obama and the Democrats have repeatedly said they will not be "Swiftboated" like John Kerry was in 2004. This apparently means challenging any criticism, whether true or not, at very least with tough rhetoric and intimidation, and if possible through legal channels. If you think he won't use every resource available to him as President to quash dissent, then you are very naive.
