Volunteer for Barack Obama on August 5th in Los Angeles

To All Supporters of Barack Obama:

On August 5th, LAGrassroots 4 Obama is hosting LAVoteObama - a citywide project to register new voters and campaign for Barack Obama.

We are looking for volunteers like you to lead Voter Registration Teams. Teams will set up registration drives in areas of heavy foot traffic, such as malls, farmers markets, street corners, etc. There are three ways to get involved:

Be a TEAM LEADER:
1. Find a location and secure permission
2. Recruit a team of volunteers (LA Grassroots will help, not to worry!)
3. Pick up voter registration materials the day before (August 4th)
4. Return voter registration materials when you're done on the big day

Be a VOLUNTEER
1. Help your Team Leader
2. Register voters and talk about Obama on the big day

Part of an Obama Grassroots group? Be a GRASSROOTS PARTNER
1. Have your group work with LA Grassroots on LAVoteObama
2. Recruit Team Leaders and Volunteers from your area

Since beginning of this group in 2006 the interest and membership growth has been a case of (non stop) escalation. Almost overnight we have become an unbeatable force as well as the Southern California headquarters for volunteer efforts that will undoubtedly launch Barack Obama to where he belongs -- HOME TO THE WHITE HOUSE!

However, the work has only just begun!

The fifth important meeting on May 8th (at the Stoner Rec. Center - Directions: http://obamala.com/meeting1/) will be to discuss ideas as to how to make that happen. Because campaigns take a tremendous amount energy and capital we are building our infrastructure now and so now is when we really need people who can sacrifice a little time each week. Most importantly - if this is going to happen we need to actively recruit and build ourselves as a group to where we can be cohesive pillar of strength and information and real service/support to the larger "end". We look forward to meeting you - bring your ideas and passion to make this happen!

Hello -- Welcome to the LOS ANGELES BARACK OBAMA FOR PRESIDENT Meetup.com group. My name is Marc Whittemore - originator of the group. Since beginning this group early December the interest has been escalating to where I've added Daniel C. as co-facilitator and between us have started talks into forming this group into a force that will hopefully become the headquarters for volunteer efforts in the LA area for the election of Barack Obama as President 2008.

This first meeting on Jan. 9th (location yet TBD*) will be to discuss ideas as to how to make that happen. Because campaigns take a tremendous amount of capital one of the first ideas I have is to design t-shirts (I will donate my time/talent as a designer) with the after cost proceeds going directly to Obama's campaign fund. But, I am getting ahead of myself... first, most important, is to actively recruit and build ourselves as a group to where we can be of strength and real service and support to the larger "end". We look forward to meeting you - bring your ideas and passion to make this happen to the round table discussion Jan 9th.

6:00 to 6:20 Meet and Greet (Where we introduce ourselves as people and converse as we hand out or make name tags for each arrival)

6:20 to 6:25 Seating and Announcement of Agenda

6:25 - 6:45 Myself, Daniel C. and Alek L. start the "informal" (quick) introduction by each first introducing ourselves, past experience and hopes for the group direction and then open the floor to anyone who would like to jump in and add their experience, foresights etc. to the mix.

Discussion of 2007 timeline
Ideas discussion - allow for people's ideas on:

1) In addtion to the "One-By-One" program (please see bo2k8.com for more info) other ideas on how to get the word out in the effort to build our group into a cohesive force that can really make a difference in LA area.

2) Strategies / money raising ideas to build a strong self supporting group that can, in turn,
